HANOVER FIRE-RESCUE |
-Burning Permits-
June 19, 2008
Fire Chief Kenneth L. Blanchard would like to remind all residents that permits for the burning of brush and forestry debris will be available from January 15 through May 1 of 2009. Burning will be allowed between the hours of 10 A.M. and 4 P.M. daily, depending of atmospheric conditions as defined by the Department of Environmental Protection (D.E.P.) regulations
Residents, businesses and contractors are reminded that the law prohibits the burning of leaves, grass, and stumps, in addition to brush and trees from either commercial or institutional land clearing operations.
Fire should be a minimum of 75 feet from all dwellings, attended, and it is also recommended that a garden hose be accessible to aid in controlling the fire. Should the fire become out of control, call 911 immediately!
Residents desiring a permit must call the Communications Center at 781-826-7850, after 9:30am and before 2:00pm, each day a permit is desired. This telephone number has been designated for fire permits only. DO NOT use it for other purposes. When calling for a fire permit, if the designated telephone line is busy, please be patient and call back again.
It is strongly suggested that residents do their burning early as the forest fire danger can increase significantly during the latter part of March and April, thereby reducing the days available for permits.
Any additional questions, please call the Hanover Fire Department at 781-826-3151.
